Dragon’s Eye Learning Center
DELC’s purpose is to provide educational experiences of cooperative and sustainable agricultural and economic systems. To meet this purpose, the Center has for seven years offered local children an assortment of environmental, fine arts, and tutoring programs at its rural site in Kapoho, Hawai’i.
DELC is currently focused on two programs: the Dragonfly Learning Environment/4-H Club and Aquaponics/Natural Farming education.
The Dragonfly Learning Environment/4-H Club is a 4 day/week extracurricular program for home schooled and other children aged 4-18. For 2009, Dragonfly will implement an innovative educational model which emphasizes child-directed learning, democracy, and personal responsibility. Click here to find out more.

DEV is the first organization to offer a comprehensive one-day tour of the four most interesting and diverse operating aquaponics systems on the Big Island. This excursion is a must for anyone considering building a commercial system, and will also provide much insight for backyard hopefuls and interested enthusiasts. Next tour, March 13.
Dragon’s Eye offers periodic 6 hour intensive workshops which allow for an in-depth understanding of our hybrid aquaponics system, and a solid introduction to the Korean Natural Farming techniques we use for supplemental fertility and insect control. Includes hands-on activities and a thorough 35 page manual. The next workshop is on March 14.
For those interested in an introduction to our farm, we recommend our weekly workshops. Two or three hours will expose you to all our major food-growing efforts, and you’re guaranteed to go home brimming with new ideas to try out for yourself.
